Hi Gary

Some notes on the Joseph Milton Dobie page. He had two more sons Doug and Wallace. I'm getting too old and forgetful - I can't remember which one fought in Korea.

There is a story that his father James was a N. Dakota State Senator about 1895-7, and had a brother (Thomas Dobie, b. February 20, 1852) that supposedly became an outlaw and disappeared into the American west.

Daughter Jean's (1916-1990) husband was known as Clarence (Bud) Gee (1920-1996).

A teetotaler, when his son in law Archie arrived after the war, he went to the liquor store and bought a bottle of Rye so Archie could have a few drinks. On the way out of the store with the bottle in a brown bag, it slipped from his hands and smashed on the sidewalk. He said he took that as a sign from God and had nothing to do with alcohol until he was about 80 (but that's another story). He must have been doing something right - he was 96 when he died.

Hi Gary

I missed one of Joseph Milton Dobie's children a while ago and just realized that I hadn't corrected it. Please add Grace (Dobie) Woodcock to the list with Don, Isobel, Jean, Doug, and Wallace.

Thanks

Ross

I updated the following entry in my Joseph Milton DOBIE (1871-1968) file:

In 1909 Joseph Milton DOBIE married Rose “Rosie” McDONALD (born at Stanley Mission Jan. 17, 1881) from Bresaylor, daughter of Mary Ann COOK and Philip McDONALD (1833-1914). In 1882 the McDonald family had moved to what would become the Bresayler Settlement.
