Interesting Reading on Red River Settlement

Last week I read "Red River shadows" by Olive Knox, published by MacMillan in 1948. Although it is fiction it is based on fact. It covers the years 1818 to 1827, 1836 to 1838, and 1844 to 1849. I quite enjoyed the book.
I also read: "Statement Respecting The Earl of Selkirk's Settlement upon the Red River in North America; Its Destruction in 1815 and 1816 and the Massacre of Governor Semple and his Party. With Observations" Published London: by John Murray, Albemarle Street. 1817. It's a little tough to read because it is so biased against the Northwest Company. It is important to remember that the Hudson Bay Company could have done more to support the Settlers too. The Book contains the actual depositions signed by our ancestors in 1816. An important read.
