Re: JOSEPH COOK (1869-1931)
Welcome aboard Gfedorchuk!
When/ where was your grandfather Olaf OLSON born, and who were his parents? I have a couple of different Olaf OLSONs who I’m trying to sort out.

Olaf Olson was from La broche area.....Charlotte passed away Oct 2006 just shy of her 100th birthday.....Olaf came from Norway in the late 1800's I believe......if you are from Wisconson I wonder if your grandma' name is Eva...she is my aunt and sister to my mother Gladys.

I have more info on Olaf Olson but it is on my work computer and I'm on sick leave until November 16th but will find more info at that time
Re: JOSEPH COOK (1869-1931)
I found your family details – your father: Tony FEDORCHUK (1922-1993) and Gladys (no bd), daughter of Charlotte COOK and Oluf “Alf” OLSON (1884-1978) who was born in Bergen, Norway in 1884 and lived for a time in the USA. He moved to Brochet in the early 1900’s and married Charlotte COOK in 1924.
What's your first name?

That is correct . We believe he arrived in New York on December 26 1917 on the ship Rochambeau.

Re: JOSEPH COOK (1869-1931)
I am sorry that it took me so long to reply.. My father is Richard Olaf Martell (my mother is Debra Sisk), his mother (my grandma) is Eva Martell.
I know my great aunt Gladys!!! I just visited with Leona and my great aunt Rose this summer, normally Gladys would come with Rose but I heard her health is not too well. We had a great heated discussion on cultural identity and modern day language loss haha... :p
I have many family members around Reindeer Lake. I found many of them on Facebook about a year ago. My name is Noella Tashina Martell Segura. If anyone is related to me, feel free to find me on Facebook and add me.
For some reason, for my entire life, I felt as if something in my life was missing. After I found my extended Canadian family history and connected with family members who still speak Cree and practice some of the old ways, I feel like the missing link in me has been filled. It is amazing to see people that look like me and have similar silly attitudes that my aunts and uncles here have.
Thank you gnstill for helping with this page.

Nice to finally hear from you Noella!
I’m a little confused about your MARTELL parents and grandparents. I seem to have Eva OLSON married to Dick MARTELL. Was Richard Olaf MARTELL their son?
Please give us birth dates or marriage dates etc. for these people so we can get them into perspective.

Oh gosh, yes, Richard Joseph Martell is my grandfather, he passed away this January. He was born October 15th, 1919. My grandma Eva Martell (Olson) was born, I think, in 1926..? I will see about finding her exact birthday later. Together, they had 10 children, all are still alive. My father Richard Olaf Martell was born October 8, 1951. I do not know when they were married. They were divorced after having ten children but neither remarried nor had any additional children. My grandma Eva is still alive and is doing very well.

It's nice you were able to visit Auntie Rose....I have not seen her for many many years, yet we are not that far away from each other. I'm glad to hear your Grandma Eva is doing well. I remember visiting once to Wisconsin many years ago...the cousin who comes to mind and may have been more my age at that time would have been Kathy Martell. It is nice to hear you are looking more into your heritage.
