Re: JAMES ASHAM (1823-1901)

In the old days the term NWT was a broad general term similar to Rupert’s Land which referred to a vast region. To my knowledge, the North West Territories that we know today was not established until many years later. Where did you find the death certificates for Elizabeth and James? I would love t...

JAMES ASHAM (1823-1901)

New ASHAM Page: JAMES ASHAM (1823-1901) Heather said: On the 1881 census it has both James ASHAM b 1823 and Elizabeth ASHAM born 1823 being born in NWT. On the death certificates, it lists James' place of birth as Norway House and Elizabeth's place of birth as Cumberland house Sask. Isn't this fun ...

Re: ASHAM

As you already know, Edith was a daughter of Elizabeth & James ASHAM b-1823. I have not had time to follow it up but I believe James’ wife may have been Elizabeth BEAR . They had about eight children one of which may have been Chief William ASHAM (born c1853) of the St Peters Indians. I’ve been ...

Re: JACOB MAYO (1796-1862)

Thanks very very much for all that Harry! Also thanks for pointing out my map error. Down right embarrasing! I don't know where Beloit became Benoit. Of course Benoit IS located near Duluth and seemed like a natural place for someone to take the fur trade route down from the Grand Portage to Lake Wi...

Re: ASHAM

I have this family in my files. My information indicates that Edith & Arthur John HUCKELL had three children born at Cross Lake, MB. Two died in infancy and one surviving daughter was Mary Elizabeth HUCKELL, born Dec 28, 1883 at Cross Lake.

Do you have family connections to these people?
