A pleasant surprise to come across my great grandfather George Goodfellow and great grandmother Sarah Turner. I have extensive genealogy on the Goodfellows and Turners. My mother's side traces back to the descendants of Arsene Morrisette. My great grandmother was Lizette (Elizabeth) Louise Morissette born in the Red River Colonies but later from Duck lake/Onion Lake. Her first marriage was to a Francois Boucher and second was to a Lafond.

Note in the list of children of George Goodfellow and Sarah Turner, the birth date for George Goodfellow Jr. is July 6, 1878. I see only the year was recorded. Date of his birth is on his 1900 Scrip application. Application was made on his behalf by his mother Sarah. George was currently serving in the Boer War in S. Africa with the Queens Contingent.
There was also his baptismal certificate: Signed by Priest/Minister: Newton Williams, Neepourwin Mission, NWT.

Also, my grandfather, William Goodfellow, born Nov 4 1876, Fort a la Corne applied for and was granted scrip in the 1900 Northwest Territories Metis Scrip Applications. He took the 240 acres, granted the 16th of May 1900. This info is now in the Library and Archives: 1901 Northwest Territories Metis Scrip Applications which I was able to access on line.

This is a request for anyone in the GlenMary district. I noticed a photo on line of my great grandfather's headstone. It reads George Goodfellow Husband of Sarah (Turner). The year of death "appears" to read 1903. I have always thought George's death was the 13th of Aug. 1905. I may have to check Vital Stats on this one. I would greatly appreciate anyone visiting the cemetery this spring, if they could check this headstone out for me (I live on Vancouver Island and seldom get back to Sask.). I'd also love a good picture of George's headstone to add to my tree.
My email is" leegoodfellow@telus.net
Thank you
