Hello,
Is there a forum set up for James Smith? He is the second child with Nancy Favel and I am his great-great granddaughter. He is also not listed in the Ancestor Index.
Thank you,
Michelle
James Smith: Second Son of John James Smith & Nancy Favel
Re: James Smith: Second Son of John James Smith & Nancy Favel
I had my ancestry completed by La Sociétè Historique de Saint-Boniface in 2015.
John James Smith b.1792 married Nancy Favel b.1816. They are my 4th Great Grandparents.
This was a very interesting revelation and quite a coincidence.
I married John Ens, I’m Nancy.
History repeats itself in strange ways.

Re: James Smith: Second Son of John James Smith & Nancy Favel
Hi Nancy, again.
I'm currently, over the past year, researching the Favel family and updating Ancestry.ca. I got bored of transcribing the Flett family tree. Flett trees are worse than Smith family trees. You luckily have both.
Anyway, I've added references to John Smith's in the HBC Archives bio sheet, his Manitoba Affidavit, and" The genealogy of the first Metis nation : the development and dispersal of the Red River Settlement, 1820-1900". I have not completed all his decendents yet. Interesting that I can't find him in the 1870 Manitoba Census yet he said he was there on 15 Jul 1870 when Canada took over.
