It appears that william tait is my ggg grandfather. I am wondering he would ever have been "registered" as metis or in an aboriginal band.

Also looking for information on his son Andrew
Re: WILLIAM TAIT / TATE (1792-1878)
As it says in the narrative: On Sep 27, 1875 William TATE, farmer of Poplar Point, claimed his Half-breed Scrip, indicating that he was born 1792 in the Northwest, son of an Indian woman and James TATE, a Scotchman. ** Half-breed and Metis are synonamous.
Regarding Andrew TAIT: Andrew married Eliza ANDERSON, daughter of Mary Anne DESMARAIS and John ANDERSON (1804-1884).
MORE ABOUT JOHN ANDERSON
Andrew & Eliza had a large family (14 children) and around 1890 they moved from Manitoba to Saskatchewan.
Where do you fit into this lineage?

Thanks Nancy. I have pretty good information for your TAIT ancestors, right down to Thomas who married Leah McKELVEY and his children (don’t know which one is your parent(s).
A Reminder: I often work with people who make donations to create Family Pages for their particular lineages. More about that at this link:

I have Thomas TAIT’s children in 1921 as Julius, Alma Lydia, Florence Myrtle and Frances Margaret. I presume your mother (Louise) was born after that?
Regarding Donations: The amount donated is entirely up to you. The amount of time and work that will be devoted to the project is somewhat determined by the amount donated. Typically donations of $200 or more are received where more than one Family Page is involved.

Re: WILLIAM TAIT / TATE (1792-1878)
my mothers birthdate was 1925 -1991
there was also another child...Thomas William born 1935...not sure if he is still alive
as far as donation... i can really appreciate all the hard work you have done and i have enjoyed everything i have read so far. but here in Ontario, our lovely government is taxing us to death ( electric bills are well over $700 a month alone) so right now i can't justify putting this money out.
but thanks for all the info
